The Brockville and Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce that a call for grant applications will begin on Wednesday, November 24th, 2010. There will be grants available to applicants in the form of two(2) x $2500.00 grants and eight(8) x $1000.00 grants for a total of ten (10) grants valued at $13,000.00.

John Fischl, Chair of the BACF, remarked that: "The three purposes of our Community Foundation are: to build endowment funds that will create resources that we can then give back to our communities in Brockville, Leeds and Grenville; make grants to local charities and/or organizations sponsored by charities; provide leadership in our communities through our granting expertise. This granting period is when we see the hard work of our Brockville and Area Community Foundation Board of Directors, staff, and supporters being put to work."

Grant applications, explanations of the qualifications needed to apply for the grants, plus other pertinent information will be found at the BACF web site: www.bcfdn.ca beginning on November 22nd. Applicants may also contact Executive Director David Dargie for printed applications.

Mr. Dargie commented that: "We would like to have our applicants apply online this year so that our Grants Committee would be able to examine an electronic portfolio of these applications. The BACF has a Grants Committee made up of BACF Board Directors, staff, and community volunteers who will carefully weigh the merits of each application before deciding on the grant recipients."

Charles Massey, Vice Chair of the BACF Board of Directors and a long-standing member of the Grants Committee explained: "The addition of two grants of $2500.00 each in this granting period will help those charities and organizations who are tackling major projects in 2011. Our eight grants of $1000.00 will also help fill the funding gaps needed by other applicants to complete projects."

Grant applications will open on November 24th, 2010 and will close on January 10th, 2011 with the granting of the funds to take place at a celebratory event in February, 2011. Details about the grant process, qualifications for grants,  timelines, and application forms are available at the BACF web site: www.bcfdn.ca or by contacting Executive Director - David Dargie at: 613.498.9970 or by e-mail at: ed@bcfdn.ca.
