In celebration of Senator Bob Runciman’s 29 years in provincial politics, former Ontario Premier Mike Harris will be the special guest at an upcoming dinner, being held in honor of Runciman’s history-making tenure. First elected to Queen’s Park as MPP for Leeds in 1981, Runciman served the next 29 years in the Ontario Legislature as the riding grew to encompass both Leeds and Grenville Counties. During his time in provincial politics, Runciman helped to raise the profile of Leeds-Grenville while serving as an influential member of the cabinet under three Premiers, including Harris. Runciman also served as Interim Leader of the Opposition on two occasions. He was appointed to Canada’s Senate by Prime Minister Stephen Harper on January 29, 2010.
“I am so pleased that former Premier Harris is able to be here and speak about their time in government together,” said Leeds-Grenville MPP, Steve Clark.
“I’m sure he’ll have some great stories to tell.”
The dinner is being held on Friday, March 25th at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 in Brockville, and
begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. followed by a roast beef or turkey dinner at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $40 each and anyone planning to attend should reserve their seat early as there are fewer than 250 available. Tickets can be ordered by contacting Mark Primeau at (613)-802-0273 or by email at
